When did this become my life?

Image
Yesterday, I got something [nice] for free. I was really excited about my free thing. I couldn't wait to go home and wear it. Then, I realized [with shock]... that I was excited over a pair of sweatpants . So, I did what any self-respecting panicked girl would do. I called my sister. "Call them yoga-wear, and it's totally fine." She soothed me. Then we discussed Costco vs. Name Brand paper towels. Yes, we are cool and you totally should be jealous. You see, I bought Robert's (and a few others) Christmas gifts on Black Friday and Dick's Sporting Goods. And I got a free $20 reward for my purchase. There were lots of Lady's Under Armour items I would have loved for working out. There were super great tennis shoes I could have used. Fleeces that I fawned over. But $20 only goes so far in the world of high end, over-priced sports wear. I found a really nice, comfy pair of sweatpants on sale that my $20 would cover. They are actually pretty cute, for sweatpants...

Have you ever...?

Have you ever gone into an interview, signed in, sat down, and waited to be called? Then stood up and subconsciously smoothed the back of your skirt? Only to try to pull your hand away and realize that your wedding band got caught on the hook and eye at the top of your skirt's zipper? And that you cannot unhook it on your own? And briefly consider if you can swing the interview with your left hand stuck behind your back? I have. Today. The lady had to unhook me. Nothing says "Nice to meet you" like having someone detach your hand from you behind. Smooth, real smooth. Good news? They still asked me back for a second interview.

Small Joys

I just remembered about a pair of shoes I bought right before we moved . In a moment of perfect, random clarity, I remembered how much I liked them and where they were packed, and where that box was now. I ran upstairs, directly to the box they were in and pulled them out. It was like Christmas morning. Ah, brown leather, sturdy (but cute) soles, little clasps, comfy and cozy and perfect for fall. It's the small joys, isn't it?

What's not to love about some great finds? 1. Caslon Capris (from Nordstrom) - I bought these at the half yearly sale. I've been looking for a lightweight, khaki colored capri for a long time. I LOVE THESE CAPRIS. I'm sort of waiting for the girls at work to have an intervention to make me stop wearing them every time we do not have patients. I promise I wash them. 2. Mama Selita's Hot Sauce (Red Gold) - I love ketchup as it is. It may be the only redneck thing about me. I won't even eat certain foods without ketchup. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Paulynn, for not only getting me hooked on this, but for being my current supplier. I've put this on burgers, fries, BBQ chicken, and so many other things, and it's delicious. 3. Ticket to Ride (Board Game) - Mandy and Steve had us play this with them last weekend. SO FUN. I can't wait to play it again. 4. Niece and Nephew - The way Abram is so funny now that he's a little boy and not just a toddler (and ask...
