This guy I married

Image
The more I talk to other people, the more I realize Robert is a surprising genius.  Other people are always telling me how great his solutions are, how he fixed something no one else could, how he was way funnier than they thought. {I'm allowed to brag about him, right?!} Today, I am grateful for the fact that Robert is a financial genius. And he is a financial genius that married a financial idiot. In a room of co-workers today, I was the only person who did not assume a car payment was a permanent way of life. That, my friends, is financial genius. I knew more about financial planning than any of them. Me, the financial idiot -- all because I married him! A few weeks ago, I told Robert I could not handle the way we did our budget anymore. Like, I hated it. Robert, who hates change and has been doing the budget the same way for 10 years, re-vamped the whole system for me. And now, I am excited (which almost never happens when it comes to the topic of budgeting). It's...

We laugh a lot around here.

Robert came home today, walked into the kitchen, and paused as he came upon this sight... ...and sort of snorted-laughed to himself. "What?" I asked, looking confused. "Um... I know I told you to use your Spanish to try to make some good money, but really Chrissy..." He responded. That's right. There was a scale and a couple hundred dollars in cash, neither of which we had when he left for work today. My explanation? The scale isn't mine, and the money is from my drugs. Both of which are true, none of which are illegal, and all of which cracked us up. The scale was actually something I borrowed to make his (non-drugged) birthday cake, and the money was a refund from an Rx that our insurance screwed up. We were laughing so hard. You can't make this up. And really, this blog does not condone illegal or drug related activity.

Suicide Mice

This is not the zoo. This is my house. And I am in charge here. I seem to have inherited both of my parents feelings towards animals. I hate pets. I HATE THEM. I hate the hair, the slobber, the food, the mess, the hassle. The throwing up. The smells. I get that from my mom. Animals should be in zoos or eaten. End of story. Then I love my dog. I love being a doggie-momma. I've been begging Robert for a miniature dachshund for over a year. I loved playing with my brother and sister-in-law's little cats (they are adorable) and called them my "cat nieces". I get that from my dad. It makes no sense. It is a total contradiction. Well, as my mother would tell you, "Mice do not come alone." Yes, Mighty Mouse 1 was captured and killed. His friend drowned trying to drink anti-freeze in our garage. We found their third friend yesterday. He somehow had fallen to his death in our downstairs bathroom sink. Don't ask me how or why or even what it was like. Robert di...
